One of my irritating listening habit is that I tend to look out the window. I get lost in my thought sometimes that I daydream or think very deeply instead of listening to the speaker. I do not usually do it but when I do, I am really carried away by my deepening thoughts. I don't do it always, but I figured out that in order for me to not look by the window and get lost in my thoughts, I will not sit by the window. I figured this out last year, that's why now during classes, I tend to sit by the aisle so that my focus will be on the speaker.
Another is that I am not responsive sometimes. Sometimes I get lazy and do not bother asking questions, or I do not want to prolong the time of the speaker. I nod, but I think at some point I do it for the sake of the satisfaction of the speaker, I pseudolistening at some point especially when I'm really exhausted. I intend to change this by first, getting sleep. I think that lack of sleep really affects my listening habits. Second is that I will concentrate my mind on the speaker and on what is being discussed so that I may able to ask questions if there's any.
